Nelson Augustus Moore (1824-1902)

It is unusual for any gallery to be able to exhibit and offer for sale a group of paintings by a 19th Century American painter. Works of art from this period rarely remain together as a group, and certainly not for three or four generations. It was with this especially great pleasure that Vose Galleries first presented the estate of Nelson Augustus Moore in 1966 with aid from the family of the artist. Moore’s descendants have since collaborated with Vose Galleries to produce a total of three exhibitions, in 1966, 1971 and 1990.
