On exhibition August 4, 2022 - September 15, 2022

In 1922, Vose Galleries mounted a memorial exhibition of more than twenty landscape paintings by celebrated painter John Joseph Enneking. A century later, the gallery is pleased to present a curated selection of the artist's work, all of which demonstrate his mastery of the New England landscape.

John Joseph Enneking, a man ahead of his time, had a stylistic foot in both the pre-impressionist and impressionist worlds of the late nineteenth century. Although he traveled abroad and witnessed the stylistic forces developing in Europe during the late nineteenth century, Enneking remained an individualist and perfected a singular impressionist style. Today, important landscapes by the artist can be found in leading public collections including the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester, New Hampshire, the Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland, Maine, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
