Marshall Jones (19th C.)

Marshall Jones (19th C.)

Marshall Jones lived in Boston, and painted during many summers on Nantucket.  Henry S. Wyer, a noted Nantucket photographer and gallery owner, included Jones’ name on his list of artists who were painting on Nantucket during the last quarter of the nineteenth century.  Other artists included on the list are William Trost Richards, George Inness and Eastman Johnson, with whom Jones most likely had contact.  These artists often exhibited at Wyer’s Art Store on Federal Street.
