Charles F. Bittinger is best remembered for his delicate, sumptuous paintings of interiors, generally peopled by elegantly-dressed young women. Daydreaming demonstrates his dedication to this genre. The artist has paid particular attention to the tastefully appointed room and renders the decorative urn and chair with a keen eye for detail, proving a writer’s description of him as “deeply sensitive to the outward forms of beauty.”
