“Viewing Don’s landscape, I couldn’t help but recall the house paintings by Edward Hopper, one of my favorite artists. However, while Hopper’s scenes convey a sense of isolation, Don’s rendition is inviting and has a pronounced feeling of warmth, owing to the soft green palette and the way the sun hits the building and glows on the nearby grass and riverbank. I also appreciate the strategic pops of red, which enliven this quiet little scene even more!”
