Maine Shore has all of the characteristics one admires in Sisson’s coastal work, particularly in his method of alternating between meticulous and broad brushwork. Carefully delineated pebbles and rocks, made smooth by time and tide, are strewn along the beach while the sky’s reflection in the crystalline pools of seawater transform into mesmerizing depths with a just few wide strokes of color.
