While the people and places of New England offered Marion Huse a variety of subject matter, she was equally inspired by her travels to the American Southwest and to Canada. Quebec Market Place, done in 1932 while visiting the city with her student and friend Barbara Sleigh, captures the vitality of the urban market, and was exhibited at the Springfield Art School’s annual exhibition later that year.
