Staff Pick 2021, chosen by Carey L. Vose, Gallery Director: "As one of the earliest American students to visit Giverny and embrace the impressionist movement, Theodore Wendel found his own slice of Giverny back in the United States when he and his wife moved to her ancestral farm in Ipswich, Massachusetts. The Strawberry Moon rising over the fields at twilight as the farmhands load up the hay wagon was a theme the artist returned to many times during his career. The Vose and Wendel families have worked together for generations, and we are so pleased to be able to offer this important example, which comes directly from the estate of the artist."
