|Charles Woodbury (1864-1940)|
Bathing Pool demonstrates the techniques Woodbury focused on as a teacher in Ogunquit, Maine. He encouraged his students to emphasize expression and careful observation of one’s subject. This traditional New England subject of swimmers navigating a rocky shoreline becomes invigorated with his brushwork, keen sense of design and color, and understanding of the behavior of nature’s elements.
